Lightitech Receives Diversity Award from Chicago White Sox

Award recognizes business partners who reflect Jackie Robinson’s character, commitment to excellence

In 2021, lightitech was honored to be recognized by the Chicago White Sox and Major League Baseball as one of the recipients of the 15th Annual Jackie Robinson Most Valuable Diverse Business Partner Award, or MVDBP.

This award recognizes “those Diverse Business Partners (diverse-owned businesses) who… reflect the character and commitment to excellence of Jackie Robinson.” The Chicago White Sox nominated lightitech in recognition of years of excellence in providing energy efficiency, lighting solutions and utility incentives at Guaranteed Rate Field.

‘In just one of our collaborations, lighitech’s energy efficient lighting saved the White Sox over 324,724 kilowatt hours through parking lot and ramp LED lighting upgrades.’

Lightitech has proven to be an invaluable partner, says Michael Spidale, director of purchasing, construction and maintenance for the Chicago White Sox. “Here at the White Sox, we’ve worked with lightitech for three years and counting – their work is seamless,” he says. “In just one of our collaborations, lightitech’s energy-efficient lighting saved the White Sox over 324,724 kilowatt hours through parking lot and ramp LED lighting upgrades.”

The MVDBP award is an extension of a program begun in 1998 under MLB Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig. The Diverse Business Partner program was established to “cultivate new and existing partnerships with minority- and women-owned businesses by increasing opportunities for minorities and women to participate in the procurement activities of Major League Baseball.
